VRMC Named Top 100 for 4th Straight Year!

VRMC Named Top 100 for 4th Straight Year! For the fourth consecutive year, VRMC has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® for cardiovascular care by Thomson Reuters.

For the fourth consecutive year, VRMC has been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® for cardiovascular care by Thomson Reuters.  Venice Regional was the only hospital in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties to make the list, and one of just three hospitals in Florida to be recognized.  The award winners were announced November 16th in Modern Healthcare magazine.  The 100 Top Hospitals cardiovascular study is an exhaustive process that objectively compares statistical data from 971 hospitals by analyzing clinical outcomes for patients diagnosed with heart failure and heart attacks and for those who received coronary bypass surgery or other treatments such as angioplasties. The benchmarks for the award are set extremely high and consider many factors of patient care, surgical technique, costs and overall efficiency. The standards are raised annually, making the hospitals work harder to earn recognition from year to year.

Now in its 11th year, the study has found that the 100 Top Hospitals Cardiovascular winners deliver significant value to their communities. Study results show that award-winning hospitals have:
• 17% lower mortality rates for heart attack patients
• 10% lower mortality rates for heart failure patients
• 27% lower mortality rates for bypass surgery patients
• 22% lower mortality following percutaneous coronary intervention
• Fewer post-operative complications with 99% of patients being complication-free
